What No One Tells You About: Down Syndrome
Why keep the good stuff all to ourselves?
Parents of Down Syndrome children, can you please share how amazing it is to have a child with Down Syndrome! A serious life changing moment.
You will feel an extreme and out of this world love for another human being. Not like any other love. It is a love that knows no bounds. A love that can conquer it all. You and your child will be invincible.
As a special needs parent you will definitely feel special! Special because you are part of the chosen family to raise a special needs child. You will be admired by many. Those people who once judged you for being selfish will think you are self-less and you will feel like a million bucks!
You will be part of a completely different world and join communities that understand your daily life and struggles. You will meet people that know what it means to have a child with Down Syndrome.
A child with Down Syndrome is now part of your family. What does that mean?
It means a lifetime of smiles, hugs, kisses and laughs. Sure our children with Down Syndrome have their own personalities and sometimes they are mad or sad. But there are one in a lifetime moments; like the wet kisses they leave on your cheek or the smiles they give us when they see us.
These precious moments are even sweeter coming from them because we know how much they have struggled to get where they are. They are learning at their individual pace but man it feels great to finally see them sit, crawl and walk!
Sharing is Caring
The world only gives you the general picture of what it is to have a child with Down Syndrome or what it is to be a parent of a Down Syndrome child. But they don’t tell you how rewarding it will be.
As a parent of a Down Syndrome child I invite all families with Down Syndrome children or any special needs child to share the goodies that these children bring to our lives.
No, it is not sad or dull. It is the most amazing thing I have ever been a part of!
